I have built a tower PC, mostly from second hand parts (all tested and working).

The board is a Foxconn 865A01. The case, cables and power supply are brand new.

My problem is that it will not power up. I have checked all my connections and they are all fine. When I power up there is a quick flash of the LEDs but that is it.

Could putting a new CMOS battery in cure this oroblem? I'm at my wits end now as I have never encountered this problem on a build. Thanks.

Hey guys!

i have funny problem with my PC. it does not start. when i start it, everything looks OK i even get the first beep, what should mean that the PC is OK and is ready to start, but then it stops and stay in "coma". only way to fix it is to remove CMOS battery and put it back in. then it starts, but if I try to set System time in BIOS, PC resets itself and goes to coma again. so i have to restore default settings (now i live in year 2001). i have to repeat this procedure before every start. i hope, i just need to replace battery with new one, but i´d like to have it confirmed. thanks for future advices.

Something probably happened with your BIOS code. You need to write a new BIOS code to the chip by dissoldering it off the motherboard and using special programmer.

I guess no, tried replacing a laptop which is NEO Basic that has 2016 and replace it with 2032. No problem at all. as Long as it is 3V you wouldn't have any problem. This is base on my experience, I don't know if someone just tried this yet.

Hi there, I have an HP mini and it doesn't update its time automatically when booting up. I need to set the time and date everytime I use the netbook. However, I knew that the problem was the CMOS battery so I decided to replace it. Unfortunately, problem still exist, time and date go back the the default settings. Tried running Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus but no good. Any suggestions?
